Legitimate Demons

 Hola todos!

So it's been a pretty good week! We're always busy.

I love Hermana Smith. I actually met her before because she was serving in my English area. We talked a lot about music and jazz and we get along really well. We are very alike. In fact, so alike, we share the same birthday! October 25th 2000.

We got to go to Alexandria 2 times this week. I was really happy to see some familiar places again. Also we went to my favorite restaurant so far - Taco Bamba. Real authentic fast food mexican tacos. Really really tasty. ¡Qué padrisimo!

We also drove like 150 miles this week because we needed to drive to the mission office and the mission home as well. It was pretty fun! Also sad because it is the last time I'll see President and Sister Duckworth. :(

Wednesday was pretty busy - Hermana Morley went home. Then we had service. I don't think I wrote too much about what we do for service -- basically we volunteer for the Catholic church, lol. I actually love it. It's a small food pantry in the basement of a school and everyone is so nice. They like to give us treats that they can't give out because they are expiring.

Facebook is still going strong! Every day I'm amazed at the fact that there are like 20 random spanish speaking people that I message on a regular basis in facebook messenger. I never thought that would be missionary work, but allí está! I'm finding a lot of success at sending bible scriptures to people, then talking to them about the Bible. The most promising person I've found though taking about the Bible is this guy that told me that he believes the Bible to be the word of God but it has been translated too many times and the meaning is changed in different translations. I sent him the 8th Article of Faith, and set up a lesson with him! It went well.

This Sunday we had church in person! Our ward is literally the best. We have such supportive members.

Hermano Vasquez is literalmente lo mejor!! He is ready at every moment to join a lesson with us. He sent Hermana Morley like 5 goodbye messages, and said some really nice things to me about serving in Chile as well. He brought two of our friends to church that didn't have rides. We gave him 4 Libros de Mormon at church to drop off to friends and he already had given one out when we talked to him after church.

We also had Hermana De Leon read el Libro de Mormón with one of our friends and she's going to do that on a regular basis!

We finally met Mario Vasquez himself -- he is kind of a celebrity for all the spanish missionaries. He made this absolute legendary rap for the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/VenidaCristoVirginia/videos/670328550508242/ and yeah, he's actually Hermano Vasquez's son! He talked to us and said he wants to do another song for the page. We didn't tell him how big fans we were.

We also saw Roberto in person! He is really short, shorter than all 3 of us! Everyone is very short, haha. Hermano Vasquez is really short as well.

Okay weird story time. (I'm using fake names) We called this guy in our phone, we had his name in our phone as 'Wilson.' We called him and set up a lesson two times but he didn't answer. After the second phone call that lasted about 30 minutes, he told us his name was "Alejandro Mateo Hernandez." He called us back like 10 times when we were in another lesson on Sunday night, and he talked to us again and we told him we would video call him that night. We got the strangest creepiest vibes from this man, let me tell you. It wasn't like the usual flirty creepy, he was like legitimately creepy as heck. It was really dimly lit, and he had like 15 bottles of rubbing alcohol on his countertop. We asked if there was anyone else in his house and he said 'well, sometimes God is with me, and sometimes there are other people, but I don't think they'll be here tonight' and we were like, okay.... but then he kept looking around during our lesson like there was someone there. There were weird noises the whole time. At one point there was a LOT of weird noises (it sounded like machine noises and pig noises) (maybe legitimately demons) and he said 'one second' and moved to a different room. and we were like whaaatttt is going on broo. That happened two times. The second time he went outside. Well we shakily taught this man the restoration and we are never going to call him again because we are not comfortable whatsoever. I am so glad we weren't in there physically.

Whew but today is p day! First p day I've enjoyed in a long time. I got a haircut finally! Chopped off my terrible mullet. I was talking to the hairstylist for a long time about missionary work and it was great.

I don't know if you could tell but I'm a little hopped up on caffeine because I got a Baja Blast at Taco Bell (thank you BlenderBottle coworkers for getting me hooked on Taco Bell, haha)

I'm getting ready to go to Chile - it still doesn't feel real yet.. I'm literally moving to a different country in 3 days! I'm going to get caught up on my scripture study when I'm in the plane. I need to do a Covid test tomorrow - spit in a tube and mail it to Utah. So yeah it is actually happening!!!

Chauuuuu!
