Our friend teaches himself

 4/12/21

hey everyone!!

Our friend Felipe is getting baptized this week on Thursday! This is not a maybe! oh yeah btw Irrael did not get baptized last week unfortunately but in a few weeks probably!! We are still in quarentine so we can get a permiso or permission to go out and have our baptism. Our mission president has to be present at the baptism, so that's cool! Oh yeah and he is actually going to baptize Felipe. Felipe is one of the most incredible person that I've taught. Every lesson he brings scriptures and questions and shares what he learned from studying what we taught for himself. He has 4 notebooks and sheets of paper with notes about the gospel! He is going to write us a song. We are going to record a version of Abide with Me and play it at his baptism.

Hermana Gaete made us a dessert called 'mote con huesillo' which is really good! Basically you take a whole dried peach and soak it in a juice of cinnamon and sugar and other stuff. Let it sit for a few days for the flavor to set in. And for the peach to basically rehydrate with the juice. You eat/drink it cold with cooked grain called mote and it is really good. :)

Hermana Rondón's mom sent us a delivery of a Venezuelan dessert that is like cinnamon rolls with cheese on top and seeds inside :P I wish I liked it more than I did but Hermana Rondón loved it!

I've been getting back into origami on my breaks and I finished a new origami ball. It looks pretty cool. My companions were like 'what is this thing'

My companion and I are reading Saints 2 in Spanish and it's super fun to talk about it. She's way farther than I am, and she is so funny. "Ohhh no! Estoy tan triste... Brigham young murió! :("

We went to a chiropracter this week for Hermana Rondon and it was interesting because we went to his house and he had like 10 guinea pigs in his living room and huge goldfish. And I watched my companion get smooshed around and stabbed with acupunture needles and zapped with electricity and suction cupped. so that was an experience.

On the way home we walked by a certain gigantic religious building that Elder Holland called "an abomination" and I got a picture with it.. :)

bye for now!
Hermana Smalley✌
