Double Date

Hello hello!!

Our friend Jake is on date for baptism on December 5th! We have our friend Firas on date for the 28th of November. We are incredibly excited for them, and honestly I feel like I don't deserve them because they're so good and ready and they are so devoted, and we've had them for like 3 weeks or so.

So the Wilson effect I was excited for last week, calling number neighbors of members, went pretty terribly actually. It was a good experience to get used to people being rude to us... 50% didn't answer and 50% answered and were irritated at us for calling them. We'll probably try it again sometime, now I know what I'll be getting myself into.

We've been trying something else new - Google Duo. People can see who's calling before they answer. We leave short 30 second spiritual thoughts as video messages when they don't answer. It is pretty fun! It feels different from calling on the phone because they can actually see you and realize we're friendly and excited to share the gospel.

Sister Harrison and I can successfully navigate our area now without google maps, which is a huge accomplishment because the highways are bonkers here. There's so many forks and there's one fork where you accidentally can go over the bridge to Maryland (which is out of our mission) 😬 haha thankfully we haven't done that..

This fast food friday we went to a Japanese restaurant and got sushi. Sister Harrison loves sushi, and I had never tried sushi before because I don't like fish. I had an open mind and I actually loved it! We might go back there because it's so close to our apartment and honestly not too expensive.

We made a video for Facebook and it blew up (compared to everything else on our zone page) because our mission president shared it 😎 so now I know how it feels to be popular. Lots of people who speak Spanish reacted to it so I messaged them all in Spanish, it was good practice for me.

President Nelson is going to share a message to the world on Friday at 11am MST and it would be a good opportunity to share it with someone who needs some upliftment...*wink wink nudge nudge* I'm really looking forward to hearing from our prophet.

Yesterday we went to two sacrament meetings and two sunday schools like usual, and we talked a lot about personal revelation because we were studying the story of the Brother of Jared. It reminded me of a talk I heard at BYU a year ago by Brad Wilcox.

Personal revelation is like a stoplight. Sometimes we get a green light, a yes answer. Sometimes we get a red light, a no answer. But sometimes we get a yellow light, an uncertain answer. What do you do when you see a yellow light? You make the decision to either speed up or stop. Heavenly Father trusts us to make the decision because he wants us to learn for ourselves. I thought it was interesting in the account of the Brother of Jared, Heavenly Father tells him how to get air in the barges when he asks. But when he asks how to get light in the barges, God tells him to come up with a solution himself. He will support us in our decision, and we will learn and grow stronger from it.

I hope you all have a great week! I would like to hear back from you about something fun you did recently!

I love being a missionary🥰
